- Children aged 4, 5, 6, or 7 (on Feb 20, 2026)
- The contestant must weigh 60 lbs. or less
- Entries are limited to 15 per performance day
- Entries are accepted from December 20, 2025, on a first-come, first-served basis until full, and MUST be submitted online
Rules and Regulations:
- Mutton Bustin takes place during the rodeo performance. You may choose your performance date.
- All children must be between the ages of 4 and 7 and weigh no more than 60 lbs.
- A parental consent form must be signed below.
- Each go-round will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis; a maximum of 15 contestants for each day. Entries are limited to one entry (one ride) per person.
- There will be no entry fee. Contestants and parents or guardians must purchase a Rodeo ticket.
- One parent/guardian is allowed into the arena to assist their child.
- Parents/family members and contestants must conduct themselves in a fair and supportive way towards ALL contestants. Failure to do so will result in the disqualification of your child and possible removal from the premises.
- Contestants must wear long-sleeved shirts, long pants, and closed-toe shoes (boots are recommended).
- Protective gear must be worn and will be provided.
- Contestants must report to the northeast side of the arena – beside the bucking chutes at the time listed on the entry packet.
- SCORING PROCEDURES – Riders must stay on for 4 seconds to receive a score. The decisions of the judges are final. No re-rides will be given.
- Choice of animal is not allowed.
- The contestant is to grasp with both hands during the ride. No extra points are given for one-hand rides.
- No spurs, ropes, or riggings will be allowed.
- Prizes will be awarded as follows: The top scorer for each day will receive a buckle. All participants will receive a trophy.
- Event Director’s decisions are final for any questions that may arise regarding the event.
- Completed entry forms must be submitted online beginning December 20, 2025

Friday Mutton Bustin' Contestants: Rodeo starts at 7:00 pm. We recommend arriving an hour early to avoid traffic. Report to the staging area behind the Whipple Section (north bleachers nearest to Hwy 100) at 7:15 pm

Sunday Mutton Bustin' Contestants: Rodeo starts at 3:00 pm. We recommend arriving an hour early to avoid traffic. Report to the staging area behind the Whipple Section (north bleachers nearest to Hwy 100) at 3:15 pm.
- All Parents and contestants must purchase a ticket to enter. Purchase your tickets ASAP, as we tend to sell out quickly. (No free tickets)
- Los Fresnos Rodeo will provide the sheep, helmets, and a protective vest.
- Attire: Parent and child should be dressed in boots, jeans, long-sleeved shirt.
- Each child can only have 1 parent/guardian with them during the competition.
