2025 Cowboy Cook-Off

A Los Fresnos Rodeo Production!

Open to the Public Date: Oct 11th

Sponsorship Packet and Registration Coming Soon!

In 1990 a small group of forward thinking individuals got together with a dream for the Los Fresnos community. With God’s blessing, hard working people and a great community, the Los Fresnos Rodeo was formed. In 2018 the Rodeo Committee decided to host another event to bring another family-friendly event to the Lower Cameron County area and this is where the Los Fresnos Cowboy Cook Off was born. The Los Fresnos Cowboy Cook Off is a competitive event for cooking teams located all over the state of Texas and is sanctioned by the Champions Barbecue Alliance. We have had over 40 teams compete in this event in years past and we hope to continue hosting this event for many years to come.

Event Details:

The competing cooking teams will arrive on Friday to set up and compete in one of the Jackpot competitions. On Saturday, the cooking teams have more Jackpots and will compete in the Sanctioned Barbecue event. Some of the teams will participate in the People’s Choice Award. These teams will be handing out free samples to the public, and the public will vote for their favorite team by placing a ticket supplied by the Cowboy Cook-Off in the team's location. The team with the most tickets wins a prize and an award plaque. Along with the Cowboy Cook-Off, we host a Marketplace where local artisans, clubs, and organizations have a venue to raise funds for their organizations.
