Rodeo Fans,
It gives me great pleasure to welcome Rodeo Fans to the 21st Annual Los Fresnos PRCA Rodeo, “The Best Little
Rodeo in Texas!” We are honored to have your presence here this weekend to share in the exciting sport of Rodeo
and to help us celebrate our “Black Jack” Rodeo. It takes a lot of skill, hard work, partnerships, luck and
the blessings of God and Jesus Christ as our Savior to survive for 21 years. We have truly been blessed. A small group
got together in 1989 with a dream to provide an annual community event for Los Fresnos to be proud of. After 21 years, not
only did that dream become a reality, but the Rodeo has surpassed all those dreams providing an awesome event for Los Fresnos
and the entire Rio Grande Valley with an atmosphere of family fun holding on to the history of the Cowboy life. All the Rodeo
Committee members, from the beginning through the 20 years, are honored to have played a part in the Rodeo and are proud of our
accomplishments. We thank our families for the many hours they have allowed us to be at the grounds working, the numerous
volunteers, the sponsors that have stood by us through the years, the Cowboys & Cowgirls that have brought the best that
professional rodeo has to offer, the clowns & bullfighters, the stock contractors that have provide the best stock in
professional rodeo and of course all the fans that have attended the Rodeo through the years. The memories and friendships
will be forever cherished.
As always, some of the top PRCA cowboys and cowgirls from all over the world will be here to compete for the pay off prize
this weekend. Once again, you will be dazzled by the stock you will see. For the 6th consecutive year the PRCA has awarded
Stace Smith Pro Rodeo Company, Stock Contractor of the year. When you watch those bulls and horses buck or those calves
sprint down the arena remember they are the best of the best! Rockin’ Robbie Hodges is here as the rodeo clown and man
in the can to keep you giggling, laughing, and slapping your knees. Keeping our cowboys and cowgirls safe is a longtime friend
of this Rodeo, Allen Nelson. Back again working along side Allen is Wacey Munsell. All three are widely known in the rodeo
circuit and have garnered many achievements through the years.
We are so excited about our 21st Anniversary Rodeo and we know you and your family will enjoy the action packed rodeo
performances and many other great family fun-filled activities planned throughout this weekend. Don’t forget to visit
the Arts & Crafts Tent sponsored by the Los Fresnos Area Chamber of Commerce. We bet you will need some pocket change when you visit!
Also, make time during the weekend to visit the Cameron County Fair & Livestock Show. Walk through the tents and view
the various animals and projects area students have worked on so diligently all year long. You will not be disappointed!
Check the program for the exact dates and times for the showing of animals. After visiting the Livestock Show visit the
Fair grounds and take the ‘lil lady for a ride on the Ferris Wheel at the Fair or play a game to win that perfect prize
for your sweetheart. There are many rides and games for those who are young at heart. Are you?
This year we are pleased to have many sponsors old and new helping us put on this little rodeo. Without their help this
rodeo could not be possible. Please note in your program those businesses that sponsor this event and make a special effort,
not just this weekend, but all year to give your business to them. Thank them for their support throughout the year by supporting
their businesses!
Last but not least, please take a moment to thank the Directors of the Rodeo Committee, as well as the others that
volunteer their time. Give them a hand shake or pat on the back. The hours are endless preparing for this weekend and it
is all done by volunteers! As soon as this weekend is complete we begin preparations for our 22nd Annual PRCA Rodeo!
